Mokokchung, 10 August (MTNews): As part of the ongoing ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, the Platinum Jubilee of Indian Independence, the cadets of 25 Naga Battalion NCC organized a colorful event in the picturesque ‘Mokokchung War Memorial’ to mark the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign, NCC Mokokchung informed in a press release. “The event started with a salute to all the ‘Veers’ who made the supreme sacrifice for our motherland, depicted by a fistful of soil,” it said.

Speaking on the occasion, Col CST Swamy, Commanding Officer of 25 Naga Battalion NCC, explained the importance of the event to the cadets and called them upon to “cultivate and spread patriotic fervour amongst the young generation,” the press release read. He also administered the ‘Panch Pran Pledge’ of the Prime Minister to all those who attended the event, affirming their commitment to the country, it further read.

 

A total of 61 cadets from Mayangnokcha GHSS and Dilong High School, Mokokchung participated in the event.

 

“The event came to an end with the National Anthem and lunch. The arrangements for the event were done by a team led by Subedars Ajay Singh and HK Bhandari,” it said.

 

“The official journey of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav commenced on 12th March 2021 which started a 75-week countdown to our 75th anniversary of Independence and will end on 15th August 2023,” the press release added.
