The Nagaland Community Conserved Areas’ Forum (NCCAF) has issued an invitation to youth delegates for an exposure trip to Khonoma and Benreu from January 22 to 24, 2025. The forum aims to “empower and inspire young individuals from our CCAs to take an active role in environmental conservation.”

In a call for participation, NCCAF has requested each CCA to “nominate two representatives (preferably college students) to participate in this program.” The selected delegates will have the opportunity to “learn from exemplary conservation practices in Khonoma and Benreu,” “engage in hands-on activities to deepen their understanding of biodiversity preservation,” and “connect with like-minded peers and conservation leaders.”

The focus of the trip is to engage youth, who are seen as the “torchbearers of tomorrow” in the conservation movement. According to the NCCAF, the trip’s objective is to “inspire environmental stewardship among the younger generation,” “equip them with practical knowledge and a deeper appreciation for conservation,” and “build their capacity to advocate for and contribute to sustainable practices within their communities.”

Delegates are expected to “actively participate in all activities during the program” and “prepare and submit a report reflecting their experiences, learnings, and suggestions after the trip.”

The forum assures that “transportation, accommodation, and food will be provided for all delegates during the trip.”

The NCCAF encourages early confirmation of nominations to ensure “smooth planning and coordination,” emphasizing the importance of investing in the “next generation of leaders for our CCAs and the planet.”
