The District Level Committee for Narcotic Coordination Centre (NCORD) conducted an inspection of pharmacies across Mokokchung town on the 9th and 10th of September, 2024. A total of 78 medical shops were inspected following directives issued by the district administration.
During the inspection, five pharmacies with expired drugs received strict warnings and were required to sign a bond agreement. It was also observed that 18 medical shops lacked CCTV cameras and 23 shops did not have their H, H1, and X registers, both of which are violations of the issued directives.
Additionally, seven pharmacies were found closed during the inspection. However, no narcotic or illegal drugs were discovered overall.
Following the inspection, several store owners proactively visited the Chief Medical Office to retrieve the H, H1, and X registers.
These inspections are part of an ongoing effort to combat drug abuse and ensure that pharmacies adhere to the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.
