NCSCM Scientists lead groundtruthing survey and strategic meeting in Doyang

Wokha, 23 November (MTNews): In a significant stride towards environmental conservation, scientists from the National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management (NCSCM), under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India, actively participated in a groundbreaking groundtruthing survey at Doyang Reservoir, Nagaland.


Led by the Acting Director of NCSCM, the team collaborated with the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Mr Suman Shivachar, IFS, and Range Officer Mr Lanso, along with other forest officials from the Wokha district forest range. The survey, conducted on November 23, 2023, focused on gathering crucial data to support the Save Wetland Campaign.

Additionally, on November 22, 2023, the Acting Director and scientists from NCSCM played a pivotal role in a high-level meeting held at Kohima. The gathering included discussions with the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) and Chief Wildlife Warden, Mr Ved Pal Singh, IFS, along with DFOs of Nagaland.

The meeting focused on the ongoing groundtruthing and carbon assessment study conducted as part of the Save Wetland Campaign.
