After registering a sweeping electoral success in the historic urban local bodies (ULB) elections in Nagaland on Saturday, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has assured to work tirelessly for the benefit of each and every citizen, irrespective of political affiliation.

“Irrespective of whichever party of candidate has emerged victorious anywhere, we assure the people of Nagaland that we will work tirelessly for the benefit of each and every citizen,” the NDPP stated in a press release issued by its Media & Communication Committee.

The NDPP also appealed for peace, oneness and unity. “Let us all work as one Team Nagaland,” it appealed.

The party also attributed the success to the “exemplary leadership” of Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio and stated that it is collective victory for each and every Naga under his helm.

The party also congratulated Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for the “exemplary leadership he has provided and for never losing hope in the people.” This is a collective victory for each and every Naga under his leadership, the NDPP said.

The NDPP also appreciated the people of Nagaland for the successful conclusion of the ULB elections in the State, “all of who have positively contributed towards the successful conduct of the elections wherever the elections were held.”

It said that the electorates have responded with a high polling percentage indicating the citizens faith in the democratic process. The success of the elections is due to the overwhelming support of all sections including the Tribal Hohos, Church Organisations, CSOs, NGOs, the electorates and the citizens of the State, it added.

Further, the ruling party also appreciated the government machinery, the State Election Commission, the Administration and all law enforcing agencies led by the state police force for the successful conduct of the elections. It also appreciated the government machinery led by the Chief Secretary, the Director General of Police and the State Election Commissioner. “Our appreciation goes out to the government machinery led by the Chief Secretary, the Director General of Police and the State Election Commissioner,” it said.

The NDPP also applauded all the political parties and their candidates for participating and contributing towards the democratic process and wished each elected member a successful tenure.

Saying that every member of the NDPP is humbled, the party also expressed its appreciation to the voters in the areas where the ULB elections were conducted for their overwhelming support and for reposing their faith and confidence upon the NDPP and its leadership.

The release also mentioned that the rank and file of the NDPP congratulates the Chief Minister Rio and President, Chingwang Konyak for leading the party from the front and for once again winning the trust and confidence of the people.

The NDPP also noted that the realisation of ULBs in Nagaland has been a long and arduous journey, marked by significant obstacles and profound sacrifices over the past two decades, including the loss of precious lives. “With the blessings of God Almighty, the support of the people and the solidarity of all sections particularly the civil societies and the church we have journeyed this far,” it added.

It also said that this journey has been successful due to an inclusive approach, consultations, deliberations, shared responsibility and collective teamwork in courtrooms.

“The realisation of the ULBs and the unprecedented achievement of reservations for women is indeed a historic milestone for the Naga people,” it said.

“It is an indication that we are progressing and moving forward as a people and we are ready to play a contributory role towards the good of humanity.”
