NDPP congratulates state govt, NOA on successful hosting of 3rd North East Games 2024

Chumoukedima, 24 March (MTNews): The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) congratulated the Government of Nagaland and the Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) led by the Chief Minister and President NOA, Neiphiu Rio for successfully hosting the 3rd North East Games (NEG) from the 18–23 March 2024.

“Despite the challenges, the games having been successfully concluded only goes to show the relentless efforts put in by the NOA and the Department of Youth Resources& Sports, Government of Nagaland in ensuring that all the venues including the Games Village were ready to cater to the needs and requirements of all the athletes and players representing the North-East States,” the NDPP said in a press statement.

The Chief Minister and President NOA along with the Secretary General of both the NOA and NDPP need to be specially commended for their dexterity in ensuring not just the games being held successfully, but also that all the athletes were hosted in the true Naga way of warmth and care throughout the period of the Games, it also said.

“To host an event of such magnitude involving athletes from multiple States is not easy for any Government or State. However, today, Nagaland has proven that a small State can also successfully organize and host a sporting event of this magnitude,” the NDPP said.

The NDPP also congratulated all the athletes and players from Nagaland for having successfully come in as runners-up in the medals tally. “It shows that the sportsmen and women from the State are at par with the top athletes of the country and wishes them all the very best in their endeavors to bring more laurels to the State in their respective sports,” the party said.

The NDPP also acknowledged and congratulated the participating States and their athletes for having participated in the NEG in the true spirit of sportsmanship and competition.

“With the successful culmination of the 3rd NEG, the NDPP looks forward for Nagaland to move ahead and host the National Games in the future,” it said.

The NDPP also appreciated the people of Dimapur, Chumukedima and Kohima districts for having been the perfect hosts throughout the period of the 3rd NEGs. “May the unity of the North-East be further strengthened through sports and universal brotherhood,” it added.
