Mokokchung, 2 March (MTNews): Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has chosen Dr Chumben Murry as its candidate. The decision came through a unanimous resolution during a meeting of the NDPP Parliamentary Board convened at the party’s headquarters in Kohima, Nagaland, on March 2nd, 2024.
The meeting, chaired by NDPP’s Convenor and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, and co-chaired by President Chingwang Konyak, appealed to all the sections of the people and all the political parties to continue to extend support to the PDA Government and the PDA consensus candidate in the forthcoming elections.
The meeting congratulated the State Government under the leadership of the Chief Minister “for the series of new initiatives and achievements that Nagaland has made in the present tenure”. The Board also appreciated the Chief Minister for the “visionary State Budget” that was recently passed in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
“The new initiatives and policy announcements of the budget are bound to have a positive impact on the economy of the State and will especially be beneficial for the youth of Nagaland,” stated the NDPP.
The Board also expressed its appreciation to all the political parties and leaders who are part of the opposition-less government and are extending support to the leadership of the Chief Minister and the PDA Government.
Further, the Board extended its appreciation to the Alliance Partner, the BJP under the leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Home Minister Amit Shah and the National BJP President JP Nadda for the support extended to the PDA Government and maintaining the positive spirit of the Alliance.
The meeting also deliberated on the forthcoming elections to the Lok Sabha and the necessary preparations to be undertaken to face the ensuing elections.
