The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has hailed the launch of the Nagaland Super League (NSL) on January 28 as a landmark moment for football in the state, expressing confidence in its potential to achieve national and international recognition.
In a press release, the NDPP stated that the NSL has gained official recognition from the All India Football Federation (AIFF), with the presence of the AIFF President at the inauguration underscoring its significance. The NDPP added that this endorsement speaks volumes about the potential the league holds.
“The NSL having been recognized by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) is now an official event of the AIFF,” the NDPP added.
”Being one of the biggest professional sporting leagues in the North-East, the NDPP is confident that the event will grow in the years to come, attracting players as well as talent scouts both from India and outside,” it added.
The NDPP also extended its appreciation to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for his vision and leadership in making the NSL a reality.
“The vision of the Chief Minister to create an opportunity to promote the football talents of the State and generate avenues for them to compete with the rest of the country and even globally has finally been achieved,” the NDPP said.
The NDPP also congratulated the organizers of the NSL – the Nagaland Football Association, the Nagaland Olympic Association and the Government of Nagaland, department of Youth Resources & Sports – for taking forward the dreams and aspirations of all football enthusiasts and talents in the State.
“The NDPP wishes the organizers all the very best as they strive to make NSL shine and grow to be at par with other football leagues both nationally and internationally,” it added.
The NDPP also appreciated the constant support of the Investment & Development Authority (IDAN) led by the Chairman, Abu Metha, adding “it was the efforts of the IDAN that enabled and helped in bringing in investors, corporate support and sponsorship in sports and youth activities of which the NSL is one.”
This, the NDPP said, “speaks volumes of the visions and endeavors of the Peoples Democratic Alliance (PDA) government in ensuring all round growth and development of the State, not just through infrastructure and other developmental activities but also the promotion of sports and youth related activities which will help in expanding employment opportunities.”
The NDPP also congratulated all the clubs and franchises for coming forward and joining the League. “Without them the NSL would not have taken off as it has done and all of them need to be appreciated,” it added. It further wished the NSL – Organizers, Clubs, Players, Franchises and the Sponsors all the very best as they continue to help build and promote football in Nagaland.
