Kohima, 6 September (MTNews): A new mobile (Airtel) tower was inaugurated on 6 September at Khulazu Basa village under Phek district in an effort to bring better network coverage to the villagers in general and to the student community in particular.
Since there was no coverage and no mobile tower in the village, Bharti Airtel Ltd. initiated on construction of one in the village as part of its rural outreach program. The new mobile tower is expected to help students in particular for their online studies, Sulanthung Ngullie, Territorial Manager, Kohima Bharti Airtel Ltd. informed.
He added that Airtel SIM cards are being distributed to some of the students and youth in the village.
The Khulazu Basa village council organized a short dedicatory program on Wednesday morning wherein head deacon of Khulazu Basa Baptist Church, Meshutsu Rhakho, pronounced the dedicatory prayer and formally inaugurated the newly constructed tower.
The village council expressed gratitude to the company for taking up such an initiative in the village.
It may be mentioned that the new tower is the first mobile tower to have been erected in the village.
