In a proactive move to enhance urban mobility and ensure the efficient management of public spaces, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Zunheboto and the Executive Officer of the Zunheboto Town Council, Keyirangding Hegui, have announced new vehicle parking regulations effective November 1, 2024.
This initiative, enacted under the Nagaland Municipal Act 2023, aims to facilitate the proper upkeep of parking lots and minimize inconveniences for both commuters and pedestrians.
Designated Vehicle Parking Areas:
The following parking areas have been allocated for various categories of vehicles:
I. Commercial Vehicle Parking Areas:
Local Taxi:
1. BOC (Hospital Junction)
2. Daily Market
3. Old Taxi Parking (Opposite HKY Building)
4. Mokokchung Road, Below SBI Bazaar Branch
Bolero Pickup/Tata Mobile:
1. K.L. Chishi Junction/Lapato
Mini Truck:
1. Old Gas Agency, Mokokchung Road, Old Town Ward
Outward Bound Passenger LMV/MMV:
1. Daily Market Complex (Aghunato, Satakha, Kohima, Dimapur)
2. Below Old Mount Ford School, Mokokchung Road, New Colony (Akuluto, Suruhuto, Atoizu, VK, Mokokchung)
Heavy Motor Vehicle:
1. Mokokchung Road, Laghilato Ward (Landslide area)
Network Travels/NST (After 4:00 PM & Before 7:30 AM):
1. Below District Education Office Building (Network Travels)
2. Near Axis Bank (NST)
II. Private Vehicle Parking Areas:
Four Wheelers:
1. BOC Area (Woodland School Gate to Jio Office area) – Left Side Parking only
2. KL. Chishi/Lapato Junction to NCRC Area – Right Side Parking only
3. NCRC to Daily Market point – Left Side Parking only
4. Daily Market to DC Office Junction – Left Side Parking only
5. DC Office Junction to Centenary Gate – Both side Parking
6. Centenary Gate to Taxi Point 3/ZTCM Parking
7. New Colony Main drain area to Mokokchung Sumo Counter – Left Side Parking only
Two Wheelers:
1. NPF Office Junction Area (Opposite SBI Main branch)
2. Alahuto Gate Area
Parking Fees:
A flat vehicle parking fee will be introduced:
– `20 per day for Four-Wheelers
– `10 per day for Two-Wheelers
This fee applies on all weekdays (except Sundays) for all motor vehicles (excluding government registered vehicles). Additionally, a special vehicle parking permit can be obtained from the office of the undersigned for ¹ 200 per month for regular parking in identified spaces.
No Parking Zones:
To further streamline traffic flow, the following areas are designated as No Parking Zones:
1. Alahuto Gate to SDO (Electrical) Office
2. Alahuto Police Point to Dr. Bohovi Clinic
3. Mokokchung Road: Opposite Taxi Parking until Old Gas Agency, New Colony
These measures are in accordance with the Municipal Affairs Department Letter No. MA-15/2024/553 dated July 26, 2024, and are aimed at improving the overall traffic management system within the Zunheboto Town Council jurisdiction.
