The Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) and the Sumi HOHO convened in Dimapur on March 22, 2025, to deliberate on the progress of the Extra-ordinary Foothills Road Project. Following discussions on both sides of the issue, it was resolved that the Sumi HOHO will “stoutly stand by the committee” and that “whatever statements have been lamented by the committee will be communicated to the concerned.”

The two parties also discussed the challenges faced in safeguarding the project’s sanctity. The meeting concluded that any issues and shortcomings that “have ‘crept in while safeguarding the sanctity of Historic Project’ have been amicably sorted out under the spirit of ‘forgive and forget.’”

The committee expressed regret for any sentiments that may have been hurt during recent debates. “We express regrets that if anyone’s sentiment is hurt during the recent debate while painstakingly advocating and defending our survival road under the guidance of 12 Apex Tribal HoHos for the last 13 years running (since 2013),” the committee stated.

In addition, it was resolved that the concerned department be urged to ensure that the unsigned contractors sign the MoU “at the earliest as assured on 5th March 2025 by the Chief Engineer PWD (R & B), Nagaland.”

The committee further pressed the department not to release any bills until a joint inspection is conducted by the department, the committee, and the contractor firms.
