The Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) has once again appealed to the general public to “respect and adhere to the 2013 resolutions unanimously adopted by the Tribal Apex HOHO to donate land free of compensation for the construction of Nagaland Foothills Road.”

While expressing appreciation to the people of Nagaland for their “kind cooperation despite so many challenges and sacrifices,” the committee also extended gratitude to the State Government for securing the SASCI Scheme soft loan, calling it a step towards “fulfilling the aspirations of the Nagaland Dream project under the leadership of the Hon’ble CM Shri N. Rio and Hon’ble Minister of NPWD, R&B Shri G. Kaito Aye.”

The NFHRCC urged the authorities “not to compromise on the quality control whatsoever it may be” and to “strictly comply to the original alignments as already approved in 2013, except on slight minor inevitable re-alignments.”

Additionally, the committee called upon the NPWD (Roads & Bridges) to “kindly fulfill the March 5th, 2025, meeting agreement as assured in regards to signing MOU by unsigned contractor firms,” emphasizing that the project requires execution “on war footing without any bias and prejudices.”

Raising concerns over alleged substandard materials used at Shanthatchu and Jakvantchu Rivers in the Baghty Division, the committee urged the department concerned to “immediately intervene” as the materials used were “not in consonance with the DPR by some contractor firms.”

While acknowledging that the EE, PWD (R&B) Baghty had informed that “rectification had already been done,” the NFHRCC advised that “the alleged substandard materials stockpiled at the site” should not be removed until a “spot verification” is conducted by the committee, the department’s technical team, and local area/village CSOs at the earliest.
