NFHRCC said in a press release that the committee will submit its observation of the inspection visit to the PWD (R&B) at the earliest. The committee also urged the contractors of Tizit and Mangkolemba Divisions to start the work as soon as possible.

It was also mentioned that the PWD (R&B) Chief Engineer will personally visit Baghty Division in Wokha district along with NFHRCC on a later date soon.

It was also stated that a team led by Additional Chief Engineer Hozeto Sumi visited the Doyang bridge construction site at Governor’s Camp, Liphanyan in Wokha district along with NFHRCC members and the bridge contractor firm.

NFHRCC said that the Additional CE along with his technical colleagues expressed satisfaction on the progress of the Doyang bridge construction as the technical work has almost been completed, in spite of the string of challenges over the years. It was also mentioned that the bridge would be recommended for inauguration for public use at the earliest.

NFHRCC said the bridge at Governor’s Camp, the third over Doyang river and the longest in Nagaland so far, was started in 2014 as a part of the foothills road initiatives spearheaded by civil society organizations in 2013. It also said that additional funding to make the road motorable, including the Doyang bridge, was provided in 2021 under the leadership of chief minister Neiphiu Rio and Deputy CM Y Patton.

The Committee further expressed its view that the department concerned must reiterate its earlier notification in preserving the stone gravels atleast 1 kms on both up and downstreams of the Doyang River to safeguard the bridge from erosion.

It further impressed upon the District administration to ensure its implementation seriously.
