NFHRCC  seeks Chief Minister’s intervention, calls for fair tender allocation and inclusion of Naga entrepreneurs

The Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC), during its meeting held on October 25, 2025, adopted several resolutions concerning the ongoing Foothills Road project and related developmental matters.

In its statement, the Committee said it has once again urged the Nagaland Public Works Department (Roads & Bridges) to impress upon the concerned contractor firms to complete the 17 work orders issued last year, whose time frame is set to expire in December 2025, within the stipulated period as per the contract agreements signed with the State Government.

The Committee also reiterated its call to the department to immediately complete the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the second phase of the SASCI Loan Scheme, covering the remaining portion of the two-lane Foothills Road construction.

Further, the NFHRCC resolved to demand that the Government fully complete the ongoing two-lane Foothills Road construction before pursuing upgradation of the route to National Highway status with the Union Government.

The Committee also urged the concerned department to adopt an open tender system for all remaining works until the project is made fully motorable.

In another resolution, the NFHRCC emphasized that the department should allocate only 10–15 km of work to each contractor firm, based on merit, to ensure transparency, accountability, and to encourage young qualified Naga entrepreneurs to participate in the process.

Lastly, the Committee urged the Chief Minister of Nagaland to grant an appointment to the NFHRCC for an in-depth interface on the way forward for the Foothills Road project. The Committee noted that it has been seeking an appointment with the Chief Minister since November 2022 without success.

The resolutions were issued through a statement by the Media Cell, NFHRCC.
