The National Foundation of India (NFI) is gearing up to celebrate the International Youth Day (IYD) 2023 with a day-long event on Saturday, 12 August 2023. The event, hosted by the not-for-profit organization CanYouth, is set to take place at the Don Bosco Institute of Development and Leadership (DBIDL) in River Belt Colony, Dimapur.

This year’s International Youth Day carries the theme “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World,” and the NFI’s event has been curated to align with this theme. The event will serve as a platform for the youth of Dimapur to engage in talks, cultural activities, exhibitions, food stalls, and live music, all aimed at promoting sustainable practices and fostering a sense of community.

 

The event will bring together young citizens of Dimapur to promote cultural and traditional sustainable practices. The primary objective of the event is to provide a platform for the youth in Dimapur to learn and share ideas around sustainable innovations and contribute to the process of developing an economically sustainable society, a press release from the NFI said.

 

“The plenary session will host three distinctive trendsetters of Nagaland. Ms. Vitono Gugu Haralu (Radio Jockey, spokesperson and secretary of Exotic Echo Society), who will speak on Naga Loinloom: Inter-generational Woven Fabric; Ms. Gihukali Chishi (Technical Incharge at NASTEC under the department of Science & Technology, Kohima) will present Intellectual Property and Youth: Role of Youth in Intellectual Property Rights; and Niksungla Jamir (State Coordinator for State PMU, Swaach Bharat Mission-Urban; Founder-Chairman of Living For Environment, LiFE) will talk on Green Youth,” it said.

 

Exhibition of upcoming local artists, craftspersons, and artisans will display their innovative products. Local caterers and bakers will open their stalls alongside the exhibition. This will provide social networking activities among the entrepreneurs and the attendants. A major highlight of the event is the performance of live musical bands Peppermint, NOTION, and The Gluttones to keep the crowd engaged till the close of the event.

 

The organizers extend an open invitation to all who are interested in being part of this celebration and contributing positively to a more sustainable Dimapur. The event’s co-funding is attributed to the European Union’s support for the #LeavingNoOneBehind project.
