The Nagaland Government Teachers’ Association (NGTA – 2010 & 2013) has been granted permission to hold a peaceful democratic protest on March 2, 2026, under strict conditions, following an emergency meeting with the District Administration and law enforcement officials.
The meeting, convened by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kohima, was attended by SP Kohima, Additional SP, SDO (Civil), EAC, and other concerned officials, along with the NGTA Core Committee. The deliberations, which lasted nearly three hours, centered on the venue for the protest.
Initially, the district administration and police rejected NGTA’s request, citing the ongoing Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) session, and stated that no form of protest or public gathering would be permitted near the Secretariat and NLA, which has been declared a “highly sensitive zone.” Despite this, the NGTA Core Committee maintained its demand for the NSF Solidarity Park as the protest venue.
After multiple rounds of discussion, the authorities decided to grant permission for the protest at the Directorate of School Education (DoSE) premises, subject to strict terms and conditions.

The Core Committee said it remained firm in its stance throughout, but accepted the outcome as the only available option.
According to the official order issued by Deputy Commissioner B. Henok Buchem, the protest must adhere to the following guidelines:
• The protest must remain peaceful and lawful.
• It will be allowed from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM on March 2.
• Participants are confined to the barricaded zone near the first gate of DoSE.
• A maximum of 800 participants is permitted due to space constraints.
• Personal vehicles are prohibited.
• Government office functioning, traffic, and emergency services must not be disrupted.
• The organizers are responsible for crowd management, coordination with police, and any damage to property.
• Sound systems must not cause public nuisance and are prohibited after 3:00 PM.
• The venue must be cleaned after the protest.
• Violation of conditions may result in cancellation of permission, legal action, and disciplinary proceedings, with future protest requests potentially denied.
The DC’s office has assured that the detailed order will be circulated to all participants, and strict compliance is expected.
The NGTA Core Committee has called on all members to follow the guidelines and participate responsibly.
