NH 129A Peren Project: Rs 106.32 crore project to be completed in 18 months

The National Highway 129A Package-1 Peren Town portion, with a project cost of Rs. 106.32 crore, is set to be completed within 18 months from the appointed date, according to Anand Kumar, Deputy General Manager (Projects), NHIDCL PMU-Dimapur.

The announcement was made during a facilitation meeting held at Town Hall, Peren, where Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang, who graced the occasion as the honored guest, underscored the importance of good roads for development. He urged public cooperation with the District Administration in settling damage compensation at the earliest to ensure smooth progress. “The technical evaluation is under process at NHIDCL headquarters, with four firms participating in the bidding,” he informed, adding that the successful implementation of the project would “change the face of Peren town.”

Deputy Commissioner of Peren, Hiazu Meru, NCS, emphasized the transformative impact of improved road connectivity, stating that good roads will promote development and progress in the region. He encouraged public leaders to hold regular meetings and extend their support in facilitating work progress.

During the meeting, representatives from various organizations also shared their views. Machi Reunim, President of the Peren Town Youth Organization, spoke on behalf of the affected landowners, while Hairiesong Siang, Liamchu Hega (Chairman, Peren Village Council), Gaigwang Hegeu (Convenor, JAC Pelingrangle), and Mireulung Sephe (Chairperson, Peren Town Council) assured their cooperation. The landowners openly declared their willingness to give their land for the welfare of the public.

Providing technical details, NHIDCL official Anand Kumar highlighted that the NH 129A Peren to Dimapur section spans approximately 81 km and is divided into six packages. The project aims to enhance road quality and serve as an alternate route to Manipur, connecting Nagaland.
