Landowners affected along the National Highway-29 stretch from Purana Bazaar to Chümoukedima have formed a unified body to collectively pursue compensation-related grievances, following a meeting held on May 2 at Hotel Saramati Conference Hall.

According to a statement issued after the meeting, aggrieved landowners deliberated extensively on what they described as discrepancies in the land survey process, particularly in the assessment and classification of land, which they said had led to the rejection of compensation claims for a majority of affected landowners.

Participants reportedly expressed serious concern over inconsistencies in survey records and alleged lack of transparency in the evaluation process.

Following discussions, the gathering unanimously resolved to unite under a common platform to pursue what it termed their legitimate claims and to formally approach the Government and concerned authorities for urgent intervention.

The body said it would seek a fair, transparent and just resolution to the grievances raised by affected landowners along the highway stretch.

To coordinate the initiative, the meeting appointed K Samuel as Coordinator, Kheto R Zhimomi as Press and Media Secretary, and Chubakumla Ao as Assistant Press and Record Secretary.

The meeting concluded with participants affirming a collective commitment to pursue their demands through lawful and constructive means.

The newly formed body stated that its primary objective is to seek justice and rightful compensation for all landowners affected along the Purana Bazaar–Chümoukedima stretch of NH-29.
