Efforts were made to restore normalcy to the disaster-hit areas along National Highway 29 following the damage caused by a disaster on 3rd September 2024.

With the intervention of the NHIDCL authorities and the timely efforts of the State Government, a single lane of NH-29 was temporarily reopened for emergency operations. On 6th September 2024, 20 heavy vehicles were allowed to use this lane, ensuring the transportation of essential goods and services.
The state government made earnest efforts to restore the highway and bring life back to normal.
In a show of solidarity, Western Sumi Hoho President Shikaho Zhimo and Western Sumi Youth Front President Atokiho Sumi visited the affected areas in Pherima to extend their support and sympathize with those impacted by the disaster.
