In a partial modification to previous travel advisories issued on 5th and 12th September, the Deputy Commissioner of Chumoukedima has announced the reopening of National Highway 29 at the Tseidukhru range (Pagla Pahar). The stretch between Chathe Bridge (Patkai Junction) and New Chumoukedima Village is now open to all traffic, with vehicle movements regulated by the Traffic Police, Chumoukedima.
However, the route from Chumoukedima Town (Old Check Gate) to New Chumoukedima via Old Chumoukedima Village will remain closed for all forms of traffic from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM. This advisory will take effect from 6:00 AM on 24th September 2024 and will remain in force until further notice.
Motorists have been advised to adhere to the regulations set by the Traffic Police to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow along the reopened route.
Meanwhile, Chumoukedima Deputy Commissioner, Polan John also held a review meeting with the officials in regard to the removal of overhanging rocks, restoration of 2 lane works and travel advisory along the National Highway-29 at his office. ADC Medziphema; EAC, Seithekema; Police, Traffic; PWD NH; leaders of Chumoukedima and New Chumoukedima village; CPO; CYO; General Manager-Dimapur PMU; NHIDCL and Contractors attended the review meeting. They discussed how to solve specific problems and take steps and actions on restoration.
