Mokokchung, 23 April (MTNews): The Nagaland In-service doctors’ Association (NIDA) has congratulated the government of Nagaland and the Department of Health and Family Welfare for successfully obtaining the ‘Letter Of Intent’ to start the first medical college in the state. The ‘Letter Of Intent’ was received from the National Medical Commission on 8 April 2023. Saying that the ‘Letter Of Intent’ can also be termed as a ‘permit’ to start a new medical college, it also wished its best wishes to Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (NIMSR).

“We are all aware that Nagaland is the only state in the country without a medical college at present. To have a medical college of our own has been a long cherished dream for many of us. Today, that dream became a reality due to this ‘Letter Of Intent’ which in other words can also be termed as a ‘permit’ to start a new medical college,” NIDA President Dr Bernard Amer and General Secretary Dr Nitovi Shikhu stated in a congratulatory note.

It may be mentioned that there are several stringent guidelines and criteria that are laid down by the National Medical Commission. Without fulfilling those guidelines and criteria, it is not permissible to start a new medical college, NIDA said.

NIDA added that if the college functions smoothly, it will become a boon for the state as it will create many employment opportunities for both technical and non-technical employees. On the medical education front, NIDA said it will usher in an academic atmosphere into the hospitals, “whereby the students and faculties will be compelled to engage themselves in the latest medical education and technologies.”

“The number of medical graduates will also increase in order to meet the demand of the increasing population. The quality of medical care in the state will definitely improve as the competition is increased. Medical graduates will also be widely available to abroad as well as to other Indian states for employment thereby improving our economic state. The list of benefits is endless,” NIDA remarked.

NIDA also conveyed gratitude to all who have worked tireless to achieve this goal and thanked Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Medical Minister Paiwang Konyak for showing their political will, Commissioner and Secretary of Health & FW Y Kikheto Sema (IAS), Principal Director of Health & FW, Dr Vibetunuo and Director-cum-Dean of Nagaland Institute of Medical Science & Research Kohima (NIMSR) Dr Soumya Chakraborty.

I as well am an aspiring blog blogger but I’m still new to the whole thing. Do you have any tips and hints for first-time blog writers? I’d genuinely appreciate it.

  2. The other day, while I was at work, my sister stole my iphone and tested to see if it can survive a thirty foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My iPad is now broken and she has 83 views. I know this is entirely off topic but I had to share it with someone!
