Mokokchung, April 5 (MTNews): The members of the Nagaland In-Service Doctors Association (NIDA) Mokokchung Unit have extended their full support to the NIDA demand for extension of superannuation age of all in-service doctors from 60 to 62 years.

Showing their support, NIDA Mokokchung in a press release stated that all other states in India have implemented the superannuation age of doctors following the announcement made by Prime Minister Modi in May 2016 that the retirement age of all government medical doctors in the country would be raised due to “acute shortage of Medical Doctors in the country and to retain experienced doctors for a longer period.”

The association also highlighted that the state will require more doctors because of the upcoming two new medical colleges and the creation of five new districts, for which it said will require more doctors to manage the health facilities in these districts.

The association concluded that “with medical doctors already short, this will be the only option to retain our experienced doctors to guide in the transition.”
