In a heartfelt tribute to Khremoü Liegise, ‘Love Lives Here Still,’ written by her daughter Niepusino Liegise, was released on October 16 at The White Owl in Chümoukedima. The launch was conducted by Viketuno Rio, Director of The White Owl, marking a special occasion on the fifth death anniversary of Khremoü Liegise.
Speaking at the launch, Niepusino Liegise expressed that the book was her way of honouring her mother’s life, her words, and the enduring love that continues to inspire. She emphasised that the book was not hers alone but belonged to everyone who had supported and touched her life. She described the collection as a conversation between two voices—her own and her mother’s—highlighting that “some of these poems are hers, carrying her warmth and wisdom. Some are mine, written during different phases of my life, shaped by the bond we shared, by grief, by resilience, and by love that has never left me.”
Viketuno Rio, formally releasing the book, remarked that it celebrates life’s connections—family, love, friendships, and the quiet strength of a woman who lived fully and loved fiercely. She added that each poem feels alive, honest, heartfelt, and deeply human, and what makes it even more special is that it carries both Niepusino’s and her mother’s voices. Rio noted that poetry is not merely written but lived, and she hoped the book would remind readers to cherish and carry forward the poetry around them.
In her publisher’s note, Vishü Rita Krocha noted that ‘Love Lives Here Still’ is PenThrill’s 111th publication and praised the book as a rare work of art immortalising the memory of Khremoü Liegise and other maternal figures in the author’s life. Krocha expressed confidence that readers would resonate with the book’s celebration of an exemplary life.
Paying tribute, Zaisi Ramlia recalled Khremoü Liegise as a woman of remarkable strength and humility, whose life reflected selflessness, compassion, and dedication to societal welfare, particularly the advancement of women. She highlighted Liegise’s role as the first president of the Tenyimi Women Organisation Dimapur, noting that her legacy lives on in the institution she helped build and the values she imparted.
The launch included a dedicatory prayer by Rev. Dr. Sanyü Iralu, chairing by Dechen, and a special presentation by Asebi Khate, who sang one of Khremoü Liegise’s early poems, set to music by Nise Meruno.
