Guwahati, November 11 (MTNews): Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari announced the sanctioning of upcoming new projects in the North East worth Rs.1.6 lakh crores on Friday. He made the announcement during the final press conference of the review of NH projects in the North East Region in Guwahati, Assam.
Gadkari stated that the projects include roads, ropeways and rope bridges, major bridges across the Brahmaputra and other water bodies, as well as multimodal logistics parks in Udaipur, Tripura, and Silchar, Assam.
According to the Minister, approximately 50 Wayside Amenities and 50 Viewpoints are also being developed. “Once completed, it would give a significant boost to the Tourism sector and economy in the North Eastern region,” he added.
Later in the evening, Gadkari took to twitter to announce the projects in detail where he mentioned the new upcoming project for Nagaland. He tweeted that a total of Rs. 3,235 crores has been sanctioned for the development of the Akhegwo-Avangkhu road (Phek district) stretch in three packages.
“It will provide international connectivity to Myanmar as well as boost connectivity to tourist-important-Shilloi Lake,” he added in his tweet.
