The District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) of Niuland convened its meeting on April 7, at the DC’s Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Jacob Zhimomi, Minister for PHED and Cooperation.

The meeting reviewed developmental progress and discussed key priorities. It began with a review of the previous meeting held on February 26, including decisions to conduct field visits to schools and villages following the HSLC and HSSLC examinations.
Zhimomi appreciated Sara S. Jamir for her service and leadership, noting her positive impact on the district. He stressed the importance of the upcoming census for development planning and urged coordination with village councils and Gaon Buras to ensure public participation. He also emphasised Aadhaar enrolment, accurate data collection, and the need to improve administrative infrastructure, including offices for key departments. Issues of staff shortages and inter-state coordination with Assam were also discussed.
In her remarks, Jamir highlighted progress in connectivity, education, healthcare, and project coordination despite limited resources, and called for collective responsibility to ensure effective implementation at the grassroots.
The board also deliberated on infrastructure repairs, departmental activities, and proposed initiatives such as a fish festival to boost local livelihoods. (With DIPR inputs)
