Niuland secured their place in the final of the Dr. T Ao Trophy 2025 after a thrilling 3–2 victory over Kohima in the second semi-final on Wednesday evening. The match, held at IG Stadium Kohima, kept fans on edge until the final whistle.
The first half was dominated by Niuland, who struck twice in quick succession. Toka opened the scoring in the 37th minute with a precise header, and six minutes later Lokivi doubled the lead with a stunning 40-yard strike that arched over the Kohima goalkeeper, hit the crossbar, and bounced into the net.
Niuland extended their advantage in the 66th minute when Kakhevi collected a long ball, dribbled past three defenders, and hammered it past the goalkeeper to make it 3–0.
Kohima then mounted a spirited comeback. Kevizakie pulled one back with a header in the 73rd minute, and Nisede added another in the 89th minute, heading in a free kick delivered by Thejangulie to set up a frantic finish.
