The Nagaland Legislative Assembly on Saturday approved the Rs 24,699.83 crore state budget for 2025-26 through a voice vote.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, who also oversees the finance department, had presented the budget on Thursday. It was passed after members approved the demand for grants for 82 departments for the upcoming fiscal year.

Additionally, the House passed the Nagaland Appropriation Bill 2025, authorizing the withdrawal and allocation of Rs 24,699.83 crore from the state’s consolidated fund for the financial year ending March 31, 2026.

During his concluding remarks, Longkumer praised the state budget for 2025-26, calling it one of the most holistic budgets ever presented. He emphasized that the budget signifies a resurgent and transformed Nagaland, one that is poised to overcome its challenges in the days ahead.

Longkumer expressed his sincere gratitude to the NLA members for their cooperation in maintaining the decorum, sanctity, and efficiency of the House proceedings. He expressed hope that this tradition of constructive engagement would continue in future sessions.

Speaker Sharingain Longkumer then adjourned the sixth session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) sine die.
