Alongkima, 19 December (MTNews): Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Sharingain Longkumer said today that change is inevitable in the context of the 21st century and a rapidly evolving global society. Speaking at the Jangpetpkong Students Conference (JKTM) Platinum Jubilee Celebration in Alongkima, Mokokchung, as the special guest, Longkumer also underscored the significance of the tag ‘land of pioneers’ and urged the Ao Nagas to introspect on it and the responsibility it carries. He emphasized the need for unity, stating that the tag was a result of collective action across generations and professions. He also challenged the community to embody the spirit of pioneers: be brave, bold, hardworking, innovative, and solution-oriented.

While acknowledging the challenges faced by Jangpetkong, particularly poor road connectivity and power supply, Longkumer’s message transcended local concerns. He also highlighted the state government’s commitment to meritocracy and transparency.

The Platinum Jubilee, held under the theme “Mita yanglushidi” (transforming vigilantly), also featured Pastor Arep Tzüdir from the Kohima Ao Baptist Church speaking on the topic “Back to the roots.” The special guest released the JKTM Platinum Jubilee Souvenir magazine, and the Changki Students’ Union presented the jubilee song.

Dr. L. Tongpang Longkumer, Professor in the Department of Agronomy at NU SASRD, Medziphema, was the main speaker in the valedictory session, addressing the topic “Forging Ahead.”
