Kohima, 26 July (MTNews): The Nagaland Law Students’ Federation (NLSF) condemned the heinous act where a 5-year minor girl was raped at Tsiesema Village in Kohima on 9 July 2023. The NLSF demanded that the accused be booked under POCSO Act 2012 for Child abuse and Crime against Children and befitting punishment be rewarded.

“The accused should not be released under any circumstances. The law should take its own course of action and justice should be delivered without interference from any angle,” the NLSF added.

The NLSF expressed regret that the minor girl had to undergo such treatment under its jurisdiction and urged upon the right thinking citizens to condemn the act from all quarters.

“Such people do not deserve a place in society. There should be immediate implementation of the punishment,” it added.

The Federation further urged the Government to ensure that the best possible medical treatment is provided to the victim girl.

Apart from bringing the perpetrator of the heinous crime to justice, the federation insisted that it is critical for all of us to reflect on why these barbaric acts keep recurring in our midst.

“As a society, we must introspect at the erosion of values and the repeated failure to ensure the security of our women and children,” it added.
