The Nagaland Medical Students’ Association (NMSA), along with medical and allied health aspirants, has announced a peaceful agitation to be held from 30th August 2025, from 10:00 AM onwards, at the premises of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Kohima.
In a statement, the NMSA said the protest is “in direct response to the recent Notification No. HFW(A)10/34/2024/145 dated 18th August 2025, order to regularize 280 contractual posts through a departmental screening committee, in the Department of Health and Family Welfare.”
The association alleged that the move is “in clear contravention of established recruitment norms, constitutional provisions, and the fundamental rights of aspirants. Such an arbitrary decision not only undermines the principle of fair and merit-based selection but also jeopardizes the credibility and future of public health services in the state.”
Condemning the decision, the NMSA stated, “We firmly condemn this biased and unjust process of regularization and assert that transparent and rule-bound recruitment procedures must be upheld to protect the aspirations of deserving candidates.”
The association further appealed for wider support: “We make an earnest appeal to all like-minded student organizations, NGOs, civil society groups, and right-thinking citizens to stand with us in this democratic movement. Together, we must ensure that fairness, justice, and equal opportunity prevail in the recruitment process of the health sector.”
According to the NMSA, “This peaceful agitation will serve as a unified voice against the erosion of meritocracy and as a demand for accountability from the authorities concerned.”
The statement was issued by Pito S Rochill, President NMSA, and Bonoto P Zimo, General Secretary NMSA.
