The Naga National Council (NNC) Parent Body, led by Z Royim, announced on September 20, 2024, that it has officially withdrawn from the Naga National Political Alliance (NNPA) and declared to join the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs). It also have declared to be the key stakeholder and signatory of the ‘Agreed Position’.

In a different statement, the NNC PB (Royim), in order to dispel any misinformation and prevent the spread of rumors, has emphasized the importance of providing confidence and clarification regarding its role as one of the signatories under the Parent Body of the NNPGs in the ‘Agreed Position’ signed on November 17, 2017, between the Government of India and the Working Committee (WC), NNPGs. This statement aims to address confusion within the public domain and ensure an accurate understanding of the agreement.

The NNC Parent Body (PB) acknowledged its “binding commitment for all the signatories of the ‘Agreed Position.’” As a signatory, the NNC PB said they are committed to upholding and supporting the terms of the agreement until its full implementation.

“Despite the circulating rumors suggesting otherwise, the NNC Parent Body (PB) remains steadfast in its dedication to safeguarding and adhering to the agreement. The NNC stand unwavering in its protection of the ‘Agreed position’ and the NNC Parent Body is a key Stakeholder and will remain so, always,” it said.

The NNC acknowledged that there may be internal differences but it said that these should not be a cause for concern as they are part of the party’s internal affairs.

“Disregarding the ‘Agreed Position’ by the NNC is not a possibility, and does not undermine the integrity of the Working Committee,” it added.
