The leadership of the Naga National Political Alliance (NNPA) has signed a Deed of Commitment affirming its support for the Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups (WC, NNPGs) and the “Agreed Position” signed with the Government of India (GoI) on November 17, 2017.

In the declaration dated June 4, 2025, the NNPA stated: “Responding to the call of our people, urging the Naga political groups to converge in one spirit… we, the leadership of Naga National Political Alliance (NNPA) duly acknowledge the historical importance of the ‘Agreed Position’ signed between Government of India (GoI) and the WC, NNPGs.”

The NNPA further recognized the comprehensive nature of the Status Paper, calling it a document that “has historical, political and administrative clarity and fittingly caters to all Nagas living in different states in India and other administrative categories.”

Declaring their trust in the ongoing negotiation process, the NNPA expressed “full faith in the GoI & WC, NNPGs leadership for an early, honourable and acceptable Indo-Naga political solution.”

According to the deed, the WC, NNPGs leaders have also agreed “in principle” to appeal to the Government of India for the “inclusion of additional competencies of the NNPA in the Status Paper to further strengthen the Agreed Position in the interest of both the GoI and the Nagas.”

Significantly, the NNPA committed that “should the GoI prepare a common draft, inclusive of all core values of different political agreements, we would unconditionally extend co-operation to such initiatives.” The statement added a formal declaration that the NNPA will henceforth “merge with WC, NNPGs, becoming equal contributing partners to WC, NNPGs to expedite early solution, under the able Convenorship of N Kitovi Zhimomi, Ato Kilonser, GPRN/NSCN.”

The Deed of Commitment was signed by Akato Chophi, President of NSCN-R; Khango Konyak and Hokato Vusshe, President and Ato Kilonser of NSCN-K respectively; Mhathung Tsopoe and Kiyelho Wokhami, President and Ato Kilonser of NPGN/NNC-MK; Kieutsangkiu and Nupavi Achumi, President and Ato Kilonser of UGN/NNC-PB; N. Kitovi Zhimomi, Ato Kilonser of GPRN/NSCN and Convener of WC, NNPGs; Kiumukam Yimkhiung, President of NNC and Co-Convener of WC, NNPGs; Toshi Walling, Ato Kilonser of NNC-PB and Co-Convener of WC, NNPGs; Shitoho Chophy, Ato Kilonser of NNC/NPGN and Co-Convener of WC, NNPGs; and Akiuba Yimkhiung, Ato Kilonser of NNC-PB (Z Royim) and Co-Convener of WC, NNPGs.
