Mokokchung unit joins state-wide call with rally from Multipurpose Sports Complex
The Nagaland National Pension System Government Service Employees Forum (NNPSGSEF) on Tuesday launched a Statewide Car Rally and Sticker Campaign across all districts of Nagaland, reiterating its demand to “Scrap NPS and Restore OPS.”
The event, coordinated by the Forum’s Central Team, saw simultaneous rallies taking place in every district headquarters. In Mokokchung, the local unit of NNPSGSEF organized its rally from the Multipurpose Sports Complex at 10:00 am in solidarity with the statewide movement.
According to the Forum, the New Pension Scheme (NPS) has caused widespread insecurity among government employees by removing the assurance of guaranteed post-retirement benefits. It maintained that the system fails to provide financial protection to long-serving employees, leading to uncertainty about their future.
In a statement, the Forum appealed to the Government of Nagaland and the Government of India to take necessary policy measures to reinstate the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), ensuring “justice, dignity, and financial security” for all government servants.
Speaking on the occasion, NNPSGSEF Mokokchung Unit President, Takotemjen Longkumer, stated that the movement was not an act of defiance against the government but “a plea for justice and protection for those who have served with sincerity and dedication.”
“The New Pension Scheme has left thousands of employees uncertain about their future after retirement,” he said, urging both the state and central governments to “listen to the collective voice of employees across the state and act with compassion and fairness.”
“Our message is united and firm — Scrap NPS, Restore OPS. Let every government servant retire with dignity, security, and peace of mind,” he added.
