Mokokchung Police issue statement on alleged kidnapping attempt
Responding to concerns over an alleged kidnapping attempt reported in Mokokchung on June 4, the Mokokchung Police have stated that the case is under active investigation and urged the public not to panic or speculate.
In an official communication to MT, the SP Mokokchung Police confirmed that an FIR has already been registered and that “the matter is being treated with utmost seriousness.” As part of their ongoing efforts, the police stated that plainclothes personnel have been deployed, patrolling has been intensified, and a suspected vehicle has been identified. However, he cautioned that “no conclusive findings have been established as of now.”
“Until the suspects are apprehended and a thorough investigation is completed, no details can be disclosed to avoid misinformation or interference with the case,” the SP said.
The SP has also requested the public to avoid spreading unverified information, especially on social media and messaging platforms, and to immediately report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
Importantly, the SP emphasized that “any official updates or clarifications will be made only through proper channels such as local newspapers, television news channels, and official police notices.”
He expressed appreciation to the public for their cooperation and reiterated that “ensuring the safety and security of Mokokchung’s citizens remains our top priority.”
