The Khiamniungan Students’ Union (KSU) has issued a seven-day notice to the Public Works Department (Roads and Bridges), seeking detailed clarification on the status of the Chendang Saddle-Pangsha road project, Phase II, and the Noklak-Thonoknyu road via Sanglao.

In a press release issued on Monday, the union expressed dissatisfaction with the department’s response under the Right to Information Act, citing conflicting explanations regarding land compensation, suspension of work during the COVID-19 pandemic and discontinuation of the Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources scheme.

Describing the projects as vital for regional connectivity and socio-economic development, the KSU warned that it would resort to lawful and democratic measures if the department’s response was incomplete or unsatisfactory.
