Mokokchung, September 13 (MTNews): Noklak Police recently trekked ‘Longshio Keng’ mountains in Noklak district in an effort to explore and promote tourism potential of the district.
“Heavenly mountains in Noklak has lot of potential for tourism. Noklak is having many tourist spots like caves, mountains, Indo Myanmar Borders etc.; hence youth can explore entrepreneurship in tourism industry,” stated SP Noklak Dr. Pritpal Kaur IPS. “However, they should make sure that no one should disturb the ecosystem and pollute the areas,” she observed.
Tourism works will raise income of the entrepreneurs and also help in development of infrastructure of the district, according to her. “Moreover, there can be home stay accommodation arrangements for the tourists where local public can also earn; but, simultaneously, cultural ethnicity and traditions should not be exploited of the people here,” she added. “Students who have dropped out of schools or are in need of employment can also explore works in tourism industry. Instead of drugs or other intoxicants, hard work can only guide the youth,” she further reasoned.
Tourism will, she said, also lead to increase in sale of local artisan’s handicrafts and handloom products hence leading to social empowerment in Noklak as a whole.
