Kohima, December 7 (MTNews) : The North eastern states today performed at “Cultural Connect” on Day 7 of Hornbill Festival 2022 at Kisama.
The performance of the North eastern states in today’s morning session of Cultural Connect was supervised by North East Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC) Dimapur.
It witnessed performance from Tripura- Hozagiri cultural dance performed by (Reang community), Erap Hanam dance by (Galo Community) Arunachal Pradesh, Cheraw dance by (Mizo community), Shad Pliang folk dance by (Jaintia Community) Meghalaya, Doh Mahi Kikan dance by (Karbi Community) Assam, ‘Singhi Chham (The Mount Kanchanjunga Snow Lion) dance (Bhutia Community) Sikkim, Pung Cholom dance, Dhol Dholak Cholom, Cheirol Jagoi Stick Dance and Thang-Ta Martial Art by Meitei Community from Manipur.
Earlier, the morning session of “Cultural Connect” was graced by Y.K. Chaubey, Chairman and Managing Director, National Hydroelectric Power Corporation as the chief guest and Medo Yhokha, advisor technical education and election Nagaland as the host.
Admiral R. Hari Kumar (PVSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC), Chief of Naval Staff graced the evening session of Cultural Connect and V. Kashiho Sangtam, Minister for Soil & Water Conservation and Geology & Mining, Nagaland as the host.
Admiral R. Hari Kumar said that over the years, the Hornbill Festival has grown exponentially in its scope, scale and stature.
“I am sure it is already a marquee event in the tourist calendars across our nation and the world,” he said.
It is truly fascinating to see such diverse display of arts, food, songs, dances, customs etc. in one place, he added.
In the Navy, we have about 200 personnel from Nagaland serving with pride in different capacities, he said adding “We look forward to many more Nagas joining us.”
