After graduating from Lady Shri Ram College with a degree in political science, Noune Sale was stranded at home throughout the pandemic, but her determination to become financially independent never wavered.

She then learned that Kohima didn’t have many family-friendly hotels or service apartments for visitors coming from a distance.
She consequently decided to take a leap of faith with Noune Ki in July 2021 despite having no prior business expertise with the assistance of her always supportive parents.
At first, Miss Sale found it to be quite difficult, but she learned more and grew with each booking and visitor contact. Her first step in realizing her ambition of becoming an independent woman was Noune Ki.
“Before I take my next step, I still have a lot of studying and learning to do,” she remarked.
The Noune Ki service apartments are completely furnished and are located at Midland Colony Road in Kohîma. The residence includes amenities like WiFi, guarded parking, and round-the-clock power backup. However, the best option is the balcony’s gorgeous view. There are also short-term rental options for the flats in Noune Ki as extended rentals.
In addition to the standard reservations that it accepts, Noune Ki also provides its services at a minimal cost to students travelling from other districts to Kohima for various exams as well as to families travelling from other districts to Kohima for medical needs.
Here is a brief interview with Noune Sale.
MTimes: Hello, Noune, and thank you for this opportunity. So, what have you taken away from Noune Ki thus far?
Noune: Thank you for recognizing Noune Ki. There are many things you can take away from running a service apartment. The few things I would like to share are that it is possible to provide comfortable stays to our guests at a cheaper rate than normal hotels and still run a fairly profitable business. Though initial investment is high, the returns are steady. Sometimes dealing with guests can be a challenge with varied expectations but it’s still a learning process for me.
MTimes: What is your actual role in Noune Ki?
Noune: My role is managing Nouneki and making sure the guests are comfortable.
MTimes: How many people can Noune Ki comfortably accommodate?
Noune: Noune Ki can accommodate six adults per apartment.
MTimes: What would you recommend your guests bring with them to Noune Ki?
Noune: Their personal items and goodwill
MTimes: Have you had a lot of visitors lately? Which season are you looking forward to the most?
Noune: Yes, we do have satisfactory bookings every month. But, we get maximum bookings during the winter season.
Post a message on their Instagram page @Nouneki if you know of any students or families in need of a temporary residence in Kohima.
