Congress cites incomplete railway projects, Dimapur station facilities and deteriorating roads across the state
The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has challenged recent claims made by Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles Pabitra Margherita regarding development and infrastructure progress in Nagaland under the BJP-led government, alleging that the reality on the ground does not match the narrative being projected.

In a statement issued by its Communication Department, the NPCC said that while the Union Minister highlighted budgetary allocations, railway electrification figures and investment announcements, the people of Nagaland were more concerned with the condition of public infrastructure and the completion of development projects.
The Congress maintained that development should not be measured solely through statistics and official announcements but by visible improvements in public infrastructure and services.
Referring to railway development in the Northeast, the NPCC claimed that major railway projects in Nagaland remain incomplete despite repeated assurances and announcements by the BJP-led government.
The party also raised concerns over the condition of Dimapur Railway Station, describing it as the state’s only major railway gateway. It alleged that the station has not received the level of modernization and upgradation promised under various railway development initiatives and that passengers continue to face inadequate facilities.

The NPCC further criticized the condition of roads in the state, claiming that several stretches, including roads connecting Dimapur and Niuland, continue to suffer from potholes, poor drainage and substandard construction.
It alleged that many newly constructed roads have deteriorated within a short period, raising questions about quality control, accountability and the utilization of public funds.
Questioning the Union Minister’s claims, the Congress asked why citizens continue to face incomplete railway projects, inadequate railway infrastructure and poor road conditions if infrastructure development has progressed as projected.
The NPCC urged the government to provide a transparent status report on pending railway projects, expedite their completion, upgrade Dimapur Railway Station and address deteriorating road conditions across the state.
Stating that the people of Nagaland deserve “genuine development, accountability and infrastructure that improves their daily lives,” the party accused the BJP of promoting what it termed “self-congratulatory narratives” rather than focusing on delivering tangible results.
