The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), along with its frontals and the Kohima District Congress Committee (KDCC), organized a mass demonstration at the Congress Bhavan premises in Kohima on Friday. The protest was part of a nationwide outcry demanding the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his “controversial remarks and actions,” the Communications Department of the NPCC said.

Khriedi Theunuo, Working President of NPCC, strongly condemned the Home Minister for his comments that insulted Dr BR Ambedkar, the Father of the Indian Constitution.

Theunuo stated that such remarks undermined the foundational principles of India’s democracy and called for accountability at the highest political level.

Akuonuo Miachieo, PCC Secretary (Protocol), joined in the condemnation, demanding Shah’s immediate resignation. She criticized the Home Minister’s actions and words as a blatant disregard for the values enshrined in the Indian Constitution.

The protest also spotlighted the death of Assam Youth Congress member Mridul Islam, allegedly caused by Assam Police, and the detention of Youth Congress leaders Zubair Anam and Uday Bhanu Chib in Guwahati. Lima Lemtur, President of the Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress (NPYC), condemned the incident, describing it as a grave misuse of power and a direct attack on democratic values.

In addition, the NPCC expressed strong disapproval of the false allegations made by S Phangnon Konyak, Rajya Sabha MP, against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The NPCC accused Konyak of making baseless accusations intended to divert attention from critical issues and to undermine the leadership of the Congress Party.

The NPCC has vowed to continue its protests until Amit Shah steps down and reiterated its commitment to defending constitutional integrity and democratic principles.
