Mokokchung, March 23 (MTNews): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) President, K Therie has informed that the organizational elections of the Indian National Congress is scheduled to commence from April 1 and completed by May 31 across the country.
However, he said that he has no intention to contest in the organizational elections, “having served the people of Nagaland and the party as President NPCC since May 5, 2015 with great confidence from the interim Congress President, Sonia Gandhi.”
On the elections in the state, Therie informed that the NPCC has appointed 383 enrollers all over the state and in all the constituencies. “Anyone can get registered from any station with any of the enrollers. Most of the enrollers will have their respective Polling Station’s E/roll,” he said.
The only thing required is EPIC and those without the card can get it from Chief Electoral Office Nagaland’s website by entering their Villages/Towns and other information given during registration, he added. While the membership fee is Rs. 5 for five years, eligibility fee of Rs. 100 is levied to be qualified to contest for any official post, Therie said. The enrolment processes have started since Nov 2021 and will conclude by March 31.
Meanwhile, for the elections, the INC has appointed Ex-MP, KB Krishnamurthy as Pradesh Returning Officer and Manoj Chauhan as APRO. The AICC elections process is expected to be completed by July.
Meanwhile, on a personal note, Therie informed that he joined Congress in 1982 and served in various capacities in NPCC office since 1986.
“I have resigned on moral grounds after the 2018 election debacle but Rahul Gandhi, the then Congress President has asked me to continue. Despite of my shortcomings they have shown their greatness,” he said.
Thanking the support he received over the years, Therie also regretted that many unpleasant actions “were taken in the interests of the people and party in the course of service” and said that nothing was personal.
He further regretted the current political scenario in the State and alleged that all the 60 MLAs have “converted Nagaland into a Hindutva State Govt.”
“Only when likeminded men and women join hands, we will be able raise our heads before the Christian World. Our doors are open to all, to work together,” he added.
