The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has expressed “deep concern” over the ongoing agitation by a section of aggrieved Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) teachers, warning that the continuing stalemate is hurting students across Nagaland.
In a statement issued by its Communications Department, the NPCC said, “The present impasse is a lose-lose situation for all stakeholders, particularly the student community, who are ultimately bearing the brunt of the stalemate.”
Blaming the prolonged inaction of the concerned department and the Government of Nagaland, the party stated, “The prolonged delay by the concerned Department and the Government of Nagaland to honor and implement the ruling of the Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench, and subsequently upheld by the Supreme Court of India, is the root cause of the present agitation, thereby disrupting the normal functioning of affected schools across the State.”
It further noted that “the judgment unambiguously entitles the aggrieved RMSA teachers to salary and service benefits at par with other batches of RMSA teachers,” adding, “There’s no justifiable reason for the Government of the day to deny, delay or deviate away from this stated verdict.”
The NPCC “fervently appeals to the Government to act without any further delay in fulfilling the Court’s directives so that the ongoing agitation can be brought to an end in the larger interest of the student community.”
“The future of our children must always remain the top priority, and every effort must be made to ensure that it is not jeopardized by inaction or neglect,” the party stated.
