The Nagaland Private Doctors’ Association (NPDA) has issued a one-month notice for termination of its participation in the PM-JAY Ayushman Bharat and Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS), citing prolonged non-payment of dues. In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, Government of Nagaland, the NPDA stated it was writing “with a heavy heart” and warned that the termination would take effect from April 17, 2025.
Despite repeated appeals, the situation remains unresolved. The association highlighted that it had a “detailed discussion with the NHPS Office and the Commissioner & Secretary, Health and Family Welfare on 9 April 2025,” during which it was suggested that the government “may consider creating a contingency fund to clear the pending dues of EHCPs.”
NPDA expressed deep regret in having to take this step, stating, “It is with deep regret that we convey our inability to continue extending services under these schemes without the compensation of our long-pending claims.”
The association stressed that the “continued financial strain threatens the very survival of our establishments” and warned that without “immediate corrective action,” private healthcare providers would have no alternative but to withdraw from the schemes.
“We sincerely hope the government will understand the gravity of the situation and take urgent steps to support the EHCPs,” the NPDA said, adding, “Our intention has never been to withdraw, but to ensure that we can continue delivering healthcare with dignity and fairness.”
