In a fallout of the recent major political development in the state where 21 NPF MLAs jumped ship to NDPP, several units of the Naga People’s Front have resigned en-masse and joined the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) across the state.
In yet another setback for the regional party, the NPF party of 28 Koridang A/C have today resolved to join the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party en-masse.
A press release from the 28 Koridang A/C appended by its President, Imtinungsang and General Secretary, K. Lanutemjen Imchen announced that it had a general meeting today at the treasurer’s residence in Yimyu Ward which was attended by all the party functionaries in the constituency and that they have resolved to join the NDPP. The general meeting was held in the presence of Imkong L Imchen, MLA and Chairman, DPDB Mokokchung.
The 28 Koridang A/C NPF Party in the meeting today reposed their confidence and trust in the leadership of Imkong L. Imchen, MLA and reaffirmed to support his leadership in the constituency “in the days to come beyond 2023.”
The press release said that the 28 Koridang NPF has “thoroughly deliberated on the performance of the NPF party in the state and also of its style of functioning” and that it has unanimously resolved that the NPF party cannot “protect and defend the aspiration and the interest of the Naga politics in general and 28th Koridang A/C in particular and therefore cannot stand the scrutiny of the Naga people in general and 28th Koridang AC in particular.” It was also mentioned that the NPF party has become a “redundant political institution for the mandate of the Naga people.”
Further, it declared that, under the given circumstances, the 28 Koridang NPF have dissolved the party along with all constituent units in the constituency and that they have resolved to join the NDPP with immediate effect “so as to support and strengthen the leadership of Shri Neiphiu Rio as the hon’ble Chief Minister and Shri Chingwang Konyak as the President of NDPP, Nagaland henceforth.”
