Mokokchung, February 6 (MTNews): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) Mokokchung Division held a ticket dedication program for its candidates from Mokokchung in the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly Election at NPF District office on Monday. President of NPF Mokokchung Division and candidate from 25 Mongoya Assembly Constituency, Moasangba Jamir, and 28 Koridang Assembly Constituency candidate Major (Retd.) Toshikaba attended the brief program.

 

 

Moasangba Jamir, speaking as a candidate for the Mongoya AC seat, citing his experiences in state politics from 1982 stated that for the people of the constituency to prosper and development to occur, a change in governance should be brought.

 

Major (Retd.) Toshikaba during a brief address expressed admiration towards the dynamic leadership of Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu, NPF President and NPF Leader Kuzholuzo Nienu.

 

During a brief interview with the media, Tangit Imsong, the General Secretary (Admin), NPF Mokokchung Division stated that NPF has come out with a fantastic manifesto by learning from its experience as a party which has been in the ruling as well as opposition.

 

Knowing the need of the people and hour, he said the manifesto has included developmental aspects in all forms giving importance to healthcare sectors including the 3 medical college projects in the state and fully functionalizing the cancer healthcare facility in Mokokchung.

 

During the program, a dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Rev Luin for the 3 candidates from NPF Mokokchung Division.

 

Major (Retd.) Toshikaba candidature declaration held

 

Later in the day, Candidature declaration of Major Toshikaba (Retd), NPF candidate for 28 Koridang Assembly Constituency was held at Chungtia Village.

 

 

 

Speaking at the program he said, 80% of sitting legislative members of Nagaland are retired bureaucrats while the remaining 20% are those with NGOs background.

 

“I would have retired at age 54 like everyone else with a pension but I realized that to serve the people, you need age and time, you need good health and if one is to serve the people, one must serve at the best of their age. Hence, I sacrificed my service to serve the people of Koridang constituency,” he said.

 

Major Toshikaba served in the Army for 22 years and took voluntary retirement from the Indian Army to contest in the upcoming election.
