The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has expressed serious concern regarding the ongoing suspension of work on National Highway 137, an infrastructure project managed by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).

“This highway is important for the people of Manipur particularly Tamenglong district, linking it with Assam and Manipur, and its timely completion is essential for economic growth and regional accessibility,” a press statement by its press bureau stated.

The party noted that the delay in construction, primarily due to unresolved compensation issues with affected landowners, has caused significant frustration in the community. The NPF urged the Manipur government to work closely with the Company and the landowners to swiftly address these compensation disputes.

“Resolving these matters is crucial to avoid further delays and ensure the early completion of this important project,” it added.

The NPF stressed that it stands firmly with the people of Manipur, especially the Naga community, and emphasized the need for urgent government intervention to resume work and complete the highway on time.
