The NPF Central Youth Wing has welcomed the unanimous passage of the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA) Bill in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, describing it as a historic milestone in the state’s political and developmental journey.
In a press release issued by its Media Cell, the NPF Central Youth Wing appreciated the PDA Government, led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, for the passage of the legislation, which establishes an autonomous governing body for the six eastern districts of Nagaland.
The youth wing said the passage of the Bill reflected the political will of the government and the support of legislators, adding that it was passed in a “befitting and dignified manner” in keeping with democratic principles.
It said the FNTA is expected to play a key role in promoting comprehensive and inclusive development across Eastern Nagaland by addressing longstanding developmental gaps and taking governance and development initiatives closer to remote and far-flung areas.
“The decentralised approach ensures that no community is left behind in the march toward progress,” the youth wing stated.
The NPF Central Youth Wing also congratulated the people of Eastern Nagaland on what it described as the fulfilment of a long-cherished aspiration for a unique self-governing Territorial Authority.
It said the new arrangement would provide greater scope for the people of the region to pursue their social, economic, educational, cultural and linguistic aspirations on an equal footing with other Naga communities.
The youth wing expressed hope that the six eastern districts would witness accelerated development under the FNTA and that all communities would benefit from the new institutional arrangement.
It also cited Chief Minister Rio’s observation that the FNTA was “not just an administrative arrangement, but a reaffirmation of our collective commitment to ensure equitable development, unity, and progress for all sections of our people.”
The NPF Central Youth Wing wished that the entire Eastern frontier would progress at an unprecedented pace, uplifting all communities under the banner of the FNTA.
