The National People’s Party (NPP) has fielded Sonuo Yanger, a woman candidate, for Ward 18 (Merhülietsa and Lower Agri Colony) in the upcoming Urban Local Body (ULB) Elections in Kohima. The campaign program kicked off today at Molu Ki, Kohima. It may be noted that Ward 18 in Kohima is not a women’s reservation seat.

“Her decision to run reflects her commitment to serve the community and her belief in gender equality in leadership roles,” an update received here said.
Sonuo Yanger outlined her vision for Ward 18, focusing on development, inclusivity, and transparency.
Dr Keviseto Kintso, President of NPP Kohima, delivered the welcome address, highlighting the significance of the upcoming elections and the party’s commitment to positive change.
Dr Tseilhoutuo (Dr. Ato), MLA of the 9 Kohima Town AC, expressed strong support for Yanger’s candidacy and emphasized her potential to bring about meaningful development in Ward 18 (Merhülietsa and Lower Agri Colony).
The event also featured a short speech from a representative of the Kohima Longjang Senso Telongjem, reflecting the community’s support and optimism for the upcoming ULB elections.
The kick-off program was graced by the presence of several prominent national-level leaders of NPP, including James PK Sangma, National General Secretary Organization, National People’s Party; Nicky Nungkhlaw, National NPYF President; Audrey, State Mahila President, and Hiketo Shohe, State General Secretary Organization.
