Dimapur, September 1 (MTNews): Along with the states where NPP has a stronghold and presence, the NPP Nagaland State unit while observing the party’s 10th Foundation Day near Morung Express House, Duncan Bosti, Dimapur on 1st September 2022, inaugurated the party’s Dimapur district unit office by the State President, Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema. The foundation day also coincided with the observance of the 75th Birth Anniversary of the party’s founder, Late Purno Agitok Sangma, popularly known as P.A. Sangma.
While highlighting the significance of the day, the State President congratulated the Dimapur District Unit on persevering for excellence and for setting up the party office in record time. He also called upon the party workers to emulate the life of Late P.A. Sangma who had dedicated his whole life for the betterment of the people and the society.
He also spoke briefly on the humble beginning of Late Sangma’s life from a small village in the Garo Hills and how he rose gradually to the exalted office of the Speaker of Lok Sabha by sheer dint of his merit, determination and integrity.
According to Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema, Late Sangma was known for his affable, friendly and more often, informal disposition which resulted in his popularity across party lines.
“He was loved by everyone who knew him for his sense of wit and humour,” he said. He also appraised the gathering about the consistent growth of NPP into the stature of a National Party since its beginning in 2013 when it was founded by Late P.A. Sangma.
He further stated that the occasion of the 10th Foundation Day of NPP was an “epoch making one” and will definitely serve as an important milestone for carrying forward the vision and mission that Late P.A. Sangma had envisioned for the party.
The program was chaired by Mr. Rocky I. Ngully, General Secretary, Dimapur District with an invocation prayer by Mrs. Alemla, President, State Women Wing which was followed by a Welcome Address delivered by Mr. Yanger Toshi Ao, President, Dimapur District.
Short speeches were also delivered by Mr. Lima Longchar, State Advisor cum Convenor, Mokokchung District; Mr. Abel Achumi, State Secretary (Protocol); Mr. Heto Achumi, Vice President, NPYF Nagaland State; and Mr. Apong Aier, President, NPYF, Dimapur-3. The program concluded on a very positive note with vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Wojamo Yanthan, Vice President, Dimapur District.
