Mokokchung, July 30 (MTNews): Nagaland State unit of the National People’s Party (NPP) has resolved unanimously to support an early, peaceful and acceptable solution to the long pending Naga political problem. It has also called upon both the State and the Central Governments not to stall the peace process by giving undue excuses but to be honest and mature in taking the right step for the benefit of the common people who it said have suffered long enough.

This was resolved at a consultative meeting of the Nagaland NPP parent body with all the district representatives held at its state party office in Dimapur on July 29. The meeting was attended by officials of the State Parent Body led by the State President, Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema, Senior Advisor, Deo Nukhu and other officials along with the District Presidents / Convenors and General Secretaries.

“The party also maintained its stand on solution before election as the very essence of the Naga Peace Talks would be diluted in the murky waters of elections,” a press statement from the NPP on Saturday said. NPP Nagaland further called upon all the political parties to take a “matured stand on the Naga political issue and not to play with the sentiments of the general public.”

In his keynote address, the state president acknowledged the contributions of all the district representatives for working tirelessly and sowing the seeds of NPP in every nook and corner of Nagaland. He called upon the members to remain focused and committed to performance and not just being comfortable in holding party positions. According to him one must be ready to execute one’s duties honestly before demanding for one’s rights. He exhorted the members to work in tandem and unity in order to lead the Nagas forward economically, financially and for all round development of the state.

The organizational report of the party was presented by Philip Lam, state general secretary (organization) during which he highlighted various activities carried out by NPP Nagaland during the current year.

During the meeting all the District Presidents/Convenors and Secretaries shared the various activities of party setup in their respective districts at all levels. They also shared briefly about the massive enrolment drive carried out in all the districts. The representatives were hopeful that the party has very high chances of securing winnable candidates for the upcoming election.

During the discussion hour it was unanimously accepted by the house that NPP Nagaland has and will always continue to focus on various issues faced by the common man in Nagaland. NPP will also continue to boost its policy of encouraging the party’s undying motto of ‘One Voice, One Northeast’.
